From the album Colors of Flying
An original piece created to honor my friends and host-family in the district of Kalaban-Coura in Bamako, Mali. In 2010, I lived there for 4 months and spent countless hours drinking tea in the shade, visiting family compounds, and playing music. It was one of the most memorable times of my life, and I offer this piece as a way to say thank you to everyone who took me in and taught me the true meaning of hospitality. Dedicated to my host brother, Aliou Doumbia, this piece also hints at one of the earliest known traditional kora pieces, Kelefaba.
